Learn 9 Oil Change Coupons & Savings Hacks

TIP: Keep an eye out for specials at your dealership as well! My dealership charges $90 for three oil changes, tire rotations, and car washes. This works out to $30 for each service, which is less than Jiffy Lube!

  1. You do not need to change your oil every 3000 miles.

Years ago, cars were required to have their oil changed every 3,000 miles. However, with current car engine technology, this is no longer necessary.

The problem is that your mechanic most likely does not want you to know this. Every 3,000 miles, they’d be delighted to see you (and your money!).

Check your car’s owner’s manual to see how far you can go. Most modern vehicles have a range of at least 7,500 miles.

When you buy an oil change from Groupon, you can save up to 30%.

Oil change deals are frequently available on Groupon, such as “Get a $61.99 oil change for $42.99” at Valvoline.

Do-it-yourself oil change? Purchase motor oil from Amazon or Walmart.

Amazon manufactures its motor oil brand, which is similar to brands such as Pennzoil, Castor, and Mobil but somewhat less expensive.

Pennzoil is $4.39/qt at Walmart.

AmazonBasics costs $4.36 per quart.

Dealers frequently run promotions such as “free oil change with a test drive.” Here’s how it works: they usually have a specific brand and model of car or truck in mind for you to test drive (though this is not always the case!).

You agree to drive it, and the dealer will credit you up to $35 toward an oil change right there at the showroom.

It might not be enough to pay the cost of an oil change, but it’s still free money!

Make use of courteous fluid top-offs.

Many facilities, such as Jiffy Lube, provide courtesy fluid top-offs in between oil changes.
